Common questions
Does this beta expire after 30 days?
No. The current basic beta has no trial timer, checkout or paid activation. Earlier pricing proposals are not part of this release.
Can I connect from another network?
The viewer needs a reachable host address: use the same LAN, a suitable VPN, or configure TCP port 7900 forwarding on the host network. There is no relay or automatic NAT traversal. Internet and VPN sessions still need validation for this beta.
How is the secret code protected?
The host generates 12 random characters from an unambiguous alphabet. The password is not sent directly; both sides prove knowledge of it during the key exchange. Captured handshakes permit offline guesses, so keep the generated code and do not replace it with a short human password.
Does it run when I am not using it?
No service or startup task is installed. Open Host and click Start sharing to listen for connections. Stop sharing or close the host window to end access.
Is unattended access included?
No. Unattended access and saved permanent codes are planned. Someone must open Host and start sharing for the current basic beta.
Does the app save recordings or transfer files?
No. Recording and file transfer are planned features, not capabilities of this basic beta. Normal sessions do not save screenshots or recordings.
Can two viewers control the same host?
One viewer controls a host at a time. Disconnect the current viewer before connecting another. If a connection attempt fails while the host is busy, retry after the current session ends.
What data does the app save?
The basic app has no cloud account or machine directory. The optional Check this PC tool saves a local JSON report and images of its own temporary test windows. In the executable build, these are under %LOCALAPPDATA%\YAVViewer\diagnostics.
What Windows features are supported?
This beta targets Windows 10/11 x64. The host must be signed in and unlocked. UAC prompts, login screens, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and higher-privilege applications are not supported. Automated tests pass; native input on two separate PCs still needs verification.
How do I get my local keyboard back?
Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F12 or click another local window. Click the remote screen to control it again. Close the viewer window to disconnect, or click Stop sharing on the host.
Start with two PCs you trust.
Download the free basic beta. Keep both desktops signed in and use the host’s generated code.
